This page is designed to help users update their existing install of SMS to the 8.91 version.This does not require the assistance of Cyrious Support in most cases.

NOTE: This process may take between 2-4 hours to complete.

All program updates are available on the Cyrious Customer Website located at http://www.cyrioussoftware.com. To download those updates please follow the steps below.

1. Visit http://www.cyrioussoftware.com
2. Log into the website with your username and password.
   • If you do not know your password click the link Forgot ID/Password?
3. Once logged into the website click on Tech Support, then click on Downloads in the gray navigation bar.
4. In the SMS Downloads section, click the SMS 8.91 Update link. This will bring you to the Update SMS page.
5. On this page you have multiple links to choose from:
   • What's New? - This is an overview of the major changes and features included in SMS 8.91
   • System Specs - The recommended SMS minimum hardware specifications
   • Instructions - A PDF version of the information located on this wiki article
   • Download - The actual SMS 8.91 Update.exe file
6. Please note your Install Code that is displayed on the page. This will be needed during your update process.
7. Click the Download button when you are ready.
   • Ensure that you Save the file to your server (computer running the SSLIP)

1. Close SMS on all computer systems
2. Shutdown the Cyrious SSLIP, located on the server
   • Right-click the SSLIP icon located by the system clock and select the Shutdown option
3. Create a backup of your Cyrious database
   • The default database location for Cyrious SMS is C:\Program Files\Cyrious\SMS\Data
4. Ensure you will be able to restart your computer when the installation is complete, as you will be asked to do this.
5. Set up Sharing the Cyrious Folder
   1. Navigate to the C:\Program Files (x86)\Cyrious (or C:\Program Files\Cyrious) folder.
   2. Click the Alt key
   3. Click on Tools, then Folder Options
   4. Click the View tab
   5. Click the Show hidden files, folders, or drives radio button
   6. Uncheck the Hide extensions for known file types
   7. Scroll down and uncheck the Use Sharing Wizard (Recommended)
   8. Right click on the Cyrious folder and choose Properties.
   9. Click on the Sharing tab
   10. Click the Advanced Sharing button
   11. The file should be shared as Cyrious$. This is usually already done.
   12. Click on the Permissions Folder
   13. If not already in the List, add the Everyone user.
   14. Set the Everyone user to have Full Control.
   15. Click OK to close the sharing folder.
   16. Click OK to close the Advanced Sharing Folder
6. Set up the Security permissions
   1. Click on the Security tab.
   2. Click the Edit button
   3. Ensure the Allow Full Control checkbox is checked on all the groups or user names except the Creator Owner
   4. Click Apply
   5. Click the Advance Button
   6. Click the Change Permissions button
   7. Uncheck the Include inheritable permissions from this object's parent (or click the button to remove inheritance
   8. Click the Remove button
   9. Ensure there is Everyone at the top and there is Users and TrustedInstaller below Everyone
   10. Highlight and remove all other users
   11. Click the Apply button
   12. Check the Include inheritable permissions for this object's parent and Replace all child object permissions with inheritable permissions from this object checkboxes
   13. Click the Apply button
   14. Click the Yes button
   15. Click the OK button
   16. Click the OK button
   17. Click the OK button
   18. Close the properties window.

1. Double-click the file named “SMS 8.91 Update.exe” to begin the setup procedure.
   • You may be prompted by User Account Control to allow the following program to make changes to this computer. Click Yes to continue.

1. You will then choose the option for “Install/Repair Server”. Click Install to continue.

1. Choose the “Update Cyrious SMS” option. Click Next to continue

1. The Cyrious Installer is now ready. Click Next to continue.

1. Enter in your User Name and Company name. Click Next to continue.

1. Choose the setup type to install. Click Next to continue.
   • Note: You may only have one option available.

1. Select the franchise type to install. Click Next to continue

1. Enter your password into the space provided. Click Next to continue

1. Select the region type to install. Click Next to continue.

1. Locate the destination folder that hosts your Cyrious data. Click Next to continue.
   • Click Browse if the location shown needs to be corrected.

1. Select the Program Folder you would like SMS to be associated with. Click Next to continue.

1. SMS is now ready to update to 8.91. Click Next to continue.

1. Please wait while the installation is completed.

1. Setup will now ask you to restart your computer.
   • Select “Yes, I want to restart my computer now.”, and click Finish to continue.

1. After your computer is restarted you may see additional prompts as shown below. Click Yes to continue.

1. At this point your SSLIP should be up and running as well as C3S. You may now start SMS.

1. When you start up SMS for the first time after the update you will receive a notice that you will need to backup your data before continuing. Click Yes to continue.

• If you don’t have your backup location set, go ahead and do that now. Click OK to continue.

1. Click OK when you receive the message that your backup is complete.

1. SMS will now apply a few changes to your database to make it compatible with 8.91.

• This may take a few minutes, so please wait patiently during this time.

1. You will eventually be asked to provide a password for your C3S Host. Click OK to continue.

1. Type in the password you would like to use for encrypting your credit card numbers. Click OK to continue.

1. As C3S triple encrypts your credit information, you will also be asked for a short phrase. Click OK to continue.

1. Your password will be updated successfully. Click OK to continue.

1. SMS will now be ready to launch. Congratulations on your update!

1. Run SMS.
2. You will be prompted to backup the database on the first run. Click Yes to continue.
   1. If your backup location is not set up or is invalid, you will have to set that up now. Then click OK to continue.
   2. Click OK when prompted when the backup is complete.
3. SMS will now apply changes to your database to make it compatible with 8.91.
   1. This may take between 5 and 60 minutes depending on the size of your database and the speed of your computer.
   2. Do not kill the update during this process. If you are still waiting after 90 minutes, please call technical support.
4. You will eventually be asked to provide a password for your C3S Host.
   1. Click OK to continue.
   2. Type in ANY password you would like to use for encrypting your credit card numbers. You do NOT need to remember this - it is simply so that every customer has unique encryption on their credit card information.
   3. Click OK to continue.
5. You will be prompted for second C3S Host password.
   1. Click OK to continue.
   2. Type in ANY password you would like to use for encrypting your credit card numbers. You do NOT need to remember this - it is simply so that every customer has unique encryption on their credit card information.
   3. Click OK to continue.
6. Your SMS upgrade is complete

Note: DO NOT delete the old backed up .mdb files (you can identify them as they have a date added to the name) in the SMS folder. If you do anything to them, create a new folder that is called DO NOT DELETE in the SMS folder and paste the backed up .mdb files in there
